Organizations

Organizations are shared workspaces on DorsalHub. They allow teams to securely collaborate, sharing resources.


1. Roles & Permissions

Access is managed via three roles:

  • Owner: Full control. Can manage billing, delete the organization, and transfer ownership.
  • Admin: Can invite/remove members and approve join requests. Cannot delete the org.
  • Member: Can view private shared resources and contribute to datasets.

2. Creating an Organization

  1. Go to Settings > Organizations.
  2. Click New Organization.
  3. Set the Name (which becomes your URL, e.g., dorsalhub.com/org/team) and Membership Type:
    • Invite Only: Admins must invite users.
    • Open: Users can request to join.

3. Managing the Team

  • Invite: Admins can invite users by their User ID via the member dashboard.
  • Promote/Demote: Owners/Admins can change member roles (e.g., Member -> Admin).
  • Remove: Admins can remove members. Note: You cannot remove the last Admin or Owner.

4. Leaving

You can leave an organization at any time from your settings page, unless you are the only Owner. In that case, you must promote someone else or delete the organization first.
